Our Mission

The Vidalia Onion Research Laboratory located at the University of Georgia - Tifton Campus Coastal Plain Experiment Station provides controlled atmosphere (CA) laboratory facilities support to a diverse group of scientists dedicated to solving problems related to the storage of Vidalia onions and other commodities produced in Georgia and the southeastern United States. An integrated approach involving University of Georgia and USDA scientists with expertise in horticulture, postharvest physiology, entomology, food science, plant pathology, weed science, and biological and agricultural engineering is utilized to answer questions, solve problems, and transfer knowledge related to the CA storage of Vidalia onions and other commodities to producers, consumers, governmental and industry personnel and other interested parties.
