2009 Georgia-Florida Tobacco Tour
You and your co-workers are invited to attend the "2009 Georgia - Florida Tobacco Tour". The tour will begin with a Kick-Off Supper at Mixon's pond house in Waresboro, Georgia on Monday, June 11, and end with dinner near Lake City, Florida on Wednesday, June 8, 2009.
JUNE 8, 2009
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Holiday Inn in Waycross (PH: 912 283 4490). Identify yourself as part of the "Tobacco Tour" for Special Rates. Other hotels are available in the area.
The tour will begin with a Kick-Off Supper at Mixon's pond house in Waresboro, Georgia on Monday, June 8, 2009. Supper will be served at 7:00 p.m.
JUNE 9, 2009
Tuesday
morning, the tour will leave from the Holiday Inn parking lot at 7:30 a.m. to
visit several Georgia tobacco farms, on-farm demonstrations (varieties, TSWV)
and producers. Lunch will be in Georgia. After noon we will visit several additional
on-farm demonstration sites (TSWV, strip-till tobacco) in Georgia and end in
Tifton, GA for the evening.
Tuesday evening, the Georgia Tobacco Tour, headquarters will be the Holiday
Inn in Tifton, GA (PH: 229 382 6687) located off Exit 62 on I-75 and GA
Hwy 82. Identify yourself as part of the "Tobacco Tour" for Special
Rates. Complimentary
breakfast is included with the room. Other
hotels are available in the area.
Directions for Supper will be available at check-in.
JUNE 10, 2009
Wednesday morning, the tour
will leave the Holiday Inn at 7:30 a.m. and visit the Bowen Farm of the Coastal
Plain Experiment Station on the University
of Georgia Tifton Campus and have lunch at the Tifton
Campus Conference Center in Tifton, GA.
After lunch we will visit additional on-farm demonstrations (TSWV, Regional
Variety Farm Test) in Berrien and Lanier Counties in Georgia, Florida tobacco
producers and a Released Varieties Demonstration in Columbia County, Florida.
The tour will end near Lake City, Florida.
No meal is planned and no hotel has been desinated.
